Taiwan has the feeling of being in the heart of Asia. Taipei, Taiwan’s large cosmopolitan city, is vibrant, hectic, and alive with a diverse spectrum of experiences. Then, just a few miles south, you may visit the Taroko Gorge, one of the most magnificent sites I’ve ever seen. You’ll feel like you’re the only Western tourist in the southeastern portion of Taiwan, which I’d never encountered before in my travels. The south is less developed, yet it contains hidden beauties such as the renowned coastline and Hualien, which are waiting to be discovered.

Outdoor nature was without a doubt my favorite aspect of Taiwan. There are endless options to get outside, from Sun Moon Lake to Jiufen’s hilltop villages and along the coast. While visiting Taiwan, you can expect to experience vibrant street cuisine, buzzing coffee shops, and lovely temples, to name a few things.
