Texas is the second-largest state in the United States, covering 268,820 square miles (696,240 square kilometres), more than any European country. Texas is known as the Lone Star State, and its flag is a reproduction of the American flag’s red, white, and blue colours. The state flag’s colours stand for valour, purity, and loyalty. Cowboys, rodeos, and, of course, large barbecues are synonymous with Texas.
Texas food is influenced by its Mexican heritage as well as Native American and American cuisine. Texas is also known for its participation in the Apollo 13 mission, during which the world-famous remark “Houston, we’ve had a problem here” was delivered. Texas is quickly becoming one of the most populous states in the country.
