Minnesota is a state in the Midwest known for its natural beauty. The state borders Canada and is home to Lake Superior, the largest of the American Great Lakes. The Dakota Indian words for “cloudy water” or “sky-blue water” were used to name Minnesota.
The state has a number of well-known connections, mostly in the arts. Minnesota was host to musicians Prince and Bob Dylan, author F. Scott Fitzgerald, and actress Judy Garland.
The state capital is St Paul, and Minneapolis is the largest city. There is plenty to keep tourists entertained within its cities. The Mall of America, which spans 78 football fields and is the largest shopping mall in the United States, is located in Bloomington.
